SANE Fundraiser Needs Your Help

Greetings from "the friends of SANE". "Which friends?" You might ask. We are a group which began in the St Luke's community and includes members from the community at large.
St Luke's Hospital has provided the Greater Duluth- Superior Community a welcoming, safe and secure place to extend medical care. .... and the option of participating with law enforcement to apprehend and prosecute perpetrators of sexual assault.
St Luke's has embraced the SANE program, which provides specially trained RN forensic examiners, and has improved the quality and consistency of evidence collection.
For the past 40 years support, and the exam, have taken place in an Emergency Department Exam Room; which provided the necessary personnel and equipment, but presents some unique privacy and comfort challenges.
The friends of SANE have turned our attention to improving the environment of care for these clients in their physical, psychological and emotional crisis.
St. Luke's is able to provide 2 rooms in an area quieter and more secluded than the ER, which still provides easy access to a physician exam if necessary. Our challenge now is to repurpose these rooms to provide the best therapeutic and comforting environment possible.
We are now able to provide one exam room, and a separate interview room.
We estimate these rooms will cost approximately $10,000 to refurbish and furnish. (A detailed list is attached.)
How can you/your organization help?
We have planned a fundraiser at Dubh Linn Irish Brew Pub from 4:00-8:00, May 18, 2014. Dubh Linn has donated the space and staff and food, and live music has also been donated; in a friendly casual atmosphere.
You can help with a donation of cash, goods for a silent auction and most importantly...... a group from your organization to attend and make this event a fun and profitable venture.
We as a community are asking these traumatized individuals to help eradicate this public health and safety outrage, please help us provide as much help and support as these victims of violence deserve.
Please call 218-591-4232.
Thank you for considering this community support opportunity.
Sincerely,
The friends of SANE
